Our Photo Process: The “StoryLayers” Guide

How we make sharing your photos simple, meaningful, and stress-free.

Your film is built on the power of a personal story. Our “StoryLayers” process is how we weave your physical and digital memories into that story, turning it into a true cinematic heirloom.

This can feel like the most overwhelming part of the process, but we’ve designed our workflow to be the *opposite*. We are a “story-first” team, which means we make it collaborative, simple, and respectful of your time.

Our Simple, “Story-First” Process

We never ask you to “just send us all your photos.” That’s not a creative process; it’s a chore. Our method is collaborative and ensures we get the *right* photos for your film.

  • Step 1: We Find the Story. It all starts with the interview. We sit down for the guided conversation *first* to discover the most powerful, cinematic moments and memories.
  •
  • Step 2: The “Photo Treasure Hunt.” *After* the interview, we send you a simple, personalized “treasure hunt” guide. It will say, “We heard a great story about [the family dog, ‘Skipper’]—do you have any photos of him?” This makes it easy for you to find the *perfect* 5, 10, or 50 photos.
  •
  • Step 3: We Make Sharing Easy. We then show you how to get those photos to us, with no tech skills needed.

Three Simple Ways to Share (For Remote & Local Clients)

You don’t need a scanner, and you don’t need to be a tech expert. We’ve made this easy.

  • 1. The “Digital Shoebox” (Easiest): Already have photos on your computer or phone? Just gather your favorites into a folder. We’ll send you a simple, private link to upload them (via Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.).
  •
  • 2. The “Magic Scanner” App (Best Quality): Have physical photo prints? The Google PhotoScan app (it’s 100% free) is an amazing tool that uses your phone’s camera to create perfect, glare-free digital scans.
  •
  • 3. The “Simple Snapshot” (Fastest): No app? No problem. Just lay your photo flat in good, bright window light. Hold your phone directly above it and take a clear, simple picture. Our editors are experts at working with photos of all kinds.

It’s a process built on care, not complexity.

We are here to guide you every step of the way. If you’re ready to start, let’s have that first conversation.
