Heritage Voices
Preserving the stories that define a community, one voice at a time.
A community’s soul lives in its stories. It lives in the memories of the elder who carried traditions forward, the shopkeeper whose store was the heart of the neighbourhood, and the family who built a new life from scratch. These are not just personal memories. They are the living roots of your community’s identity.
But these stories are fragile when left unwritten. Heritage Voices is my commitment to preserving this intangible heritage before it fades. Each film is a dignified, cinematic portrait that captures the spirit of a community in the words of someone who lived it, creating a permanent, living archive for generations to come.
The Heritage Portrait
Heritage Voices Package
Starting at $2,995 CAD
A powerful five to seven minute interview based film honouring an elder’s life, culture, or contribution. Captured with warmth and care, this piece blends a thoughtful on camera interview with light environmental footage filmed in their own space to create a dignified and cinematic record of their legacy.
The process begins with a pre interview story consultation with your organization and the subject. This is followed by a relaxed four hour cinematic interview session on location. The final piece is a five to seven minute cultural documentary that receives professional editing, color grading, sound design, licensed music, and one round of revisions. Everything is delivered in an archival quality digital format that is ideal for museum exhibits or online archives.
On the craft
Documenting community history requires a different kind of listening. It is about creating a space where someone feels safe enough to share the weight of their experience. In the edit, the craft lies in preserving their memory and cultural impact. I work with you to keep your community’s perspective true and clear. I am letting their voice carry the history exactly the way they lived it and letting us feel the weight of their story as it impacts your community.
More Than a Film: A Partnership in Preservation
I know that for many community groups, historical societies, and cultural organizations, the will to preserve these stories is strong, but resources can be limited. That is why I offer more than just a film service. I offer a partnership.
I specialize in helping organizations like yours build a media component into grant applications. I will help define the scope of your project, create a realistic production budget, and provide expert language for proposals to funders like the Canada History Fund or the Documentary Heritage Communities Program.

Weave in the Visual Proof of Your Community’s History
An elder’s voice provides the soul of the story, but seeing the visual proof of their journey makes it unforgettable. Weaving in archival materials like historical photographs, newspaper clippings, or old community footage adds depth and authenticity.
How You Will Receive Your Film
Your Heritage Voices film will be delivered as a high quality digital master MP4, ready to preserve and share. For organizations requiring public access or physical archives, you can add a Community Digital Archive for $150, which is a bespoke, shareable webpage where multiple Heritage Voices films can live together, creating a digital home for your community history. You can also choose to add The Heirloom Gift Set for $150, providing a custom engraved USB drive presented in a handcrafted box that is ideal for museum physical archives or formal community presentations.
Nonprofit and Heritage Partnerships
Capturing the heart of the organizations that shape the community.
The organizations that create change often have the hardest time telling their own story. A founding moment, like the first meal served or the program that should not have worked but did, deserves the same care as any other film.
For registered nonprofits and heritage organizations, I offer a dedicated Community Founder rate of $2,700 CAD. This includes a three to five minute cinematic origin film, a vertical social cut, and full professional polish from shoot to final delivery.
Through the Shared Story program, I occasionally match organizations with local business sponsors who fund the production in full. If you are interested in being added to the Stories Waiting list for potential sponsorship, please reach out.
Let’s Preserve Your Community’s Legacy
This is a sacred act of remembrance. I would be honoured to partner with you to preserve your community’s story, one voice at a time.
